Reflections is a self-published anthology that depicts the thoughts that rampaged through the head of a young girl that faced situations that she could not understand, nor was taught to deal with. The collection is an evolution of facing the scenes and emotions that came about from the situations she was thrown into, and growing into the woman who learned from her survival. The collection was created to show just how ugly someone’s past can be, and how they try to turn it into a beautiful work of art. She writes because while she may not have always understood the “why” right away, or had anyone to talk through the pain, writing allowed her a space to translate her mind. So, Welcome to the life of a girl who had to carry more than her share of burdens. From a child who was forced to grow up too quickly; a woman who discovered her own truths later than expected. For too long, she allowed others to shape her path, to convince her that she was falling short because she didn’t fit into their mold. The limit has been reached—and she knows she is not alone.
