Mindfulness vastly improves quality of life! This revelation dates to the era of Buddha. In modern times, most of us received a practical “Cliffs notes” introduction to mindfulness when our mothers taught us to pay attention and look both ways before we crossed the street. This poetry explores the deeper aspects of mindfulness: paying attention to our emotions and thoughts, calming anger, fears, or concerns, understanding them, and letting go so we're ready for whatever life brings next. We live fully in the moment (the here and now), not in the past or future. These poems show how mindfulness enables us to be happy as we fully engage in life’s ever-changing mix of joy and sorrow. They provide training and guidance for being mindful in both active life and meditation. Writing mindfulness poems and then consciously living what I wrote has been a life-changing experience. May reading these poems inspire great changes in your life, too! Mindfulness is Michael’s most recent (2024) poetry book. His previous books are “Happiness: Practical Poetry to Cultivate a Happy Life”, “Surely Inspirational, Surely Amazing: Practical Poetry for Discovering Joy”, and “Understanding: A Progressive Poetic Path”. How to use these books: Use these books to guide and inspire mindful engagement in common human experiences: marriage, parenthood, health challenges, thoroughly enjoying nature, positive social interaction, community involvement, and finding creative solutions to problems. Enjoy reading the poems in these books, and then refer back to poems relevant to current situations and challenges in your life.
