A fallen star. A fallen guardian. And a chaotic princess...What could go wrong? For thirty-three years, mortals have been on their own, abandoned by the guardian soulmates sworn to protect them. But when a village girl gains the powers of a star, a celestial invasion disrupts the delicate balance of the realms. Problems: Jemma is the village outcast with a fainting illness. She doesn’t know how to fight and finds the idea of protecting the very people who don’t accept her from a sky demon assault to be…unpleasant. And Malokai, her soulbound guardian, is tasked to return to the surface to find and kill her, claiming the star’s power for darkness. Jemma and Malokai join the strong-willed princess Breezelda and friends to form a fiercely loyal found family using the power of humility, elemental magic, and ancient martial arts to face the greatest evil the realms have ever seen. This young adult romantic fantasy debuts the untold beauty of Zoria and delivers emotional discoveries, fantastical creatures, swoon-worthy tropes, a highly praised magic system, and the story of salvation perfect for fans of Graceling , The Chronicles of Narnia , the Avatar movies, and Avatar: The Last Airbender . 5.0 out of 5 stars If you love Fantasy, you'll love this book!!! "While I'm not a practicing Christian, I'm surprised this genre isn't bigger than it is. This book is a wonderful example of how to combine both an exhilarating adventure in a magical world, AND tie in themes of belief and faith. It's a tale that can inspire any reader, no matter the religion. I loved Jemma's journey and her struggles. She's everything I want in a main character - strong, quirky, and funny, but also flawed in such a relatable way. I won't spoil anything, but the plot really throws a lot at her! Also, as an animal lover with 4 cats, I appreciated Jemma's special affinity with all animals. (Shout out to the adorable Raspy There's lots of memorable secondary characters too that I couldn't get enough of. Characters are the most important part of a book, and I know an author is doing something right when I literally squeal in excitement when a great character reappears unexpectedly (I won't spoil who this was, but it was such a satisfying twist!). And the ending leads me to believe we'll be seeing more of another particular character in the next book, which I'm thrilled about. The whole story feels fresh and stands out against all the other fiction out there. I find some fantasy too heavy on details, but Star Wielder struck the right balance for me. An astonishingly vibrant world and history, but never overwhelming. The magic was captivating and unique too, and the bond between mortals and Guardians is such a fascinating twist on the soulmate trope. I'm really excited for a sequel (or multiple sequels!) because Zoria is a fantasy land I need more of. It's by far one of the best YA Fantasy books I've read, and I can't wait to see what author Annah Wyatt does next 5.0 out of 5 stars Christian fantasy "Yes, I'm a cover snob and yes, this one is a Beauty! The water, the stars, the illumination it is all such a perfect representation of the book. Annah Wyatt has done such an incredible job with her vivid imagery. My goodness, I wanted so desperately to be in the realm she has created. I also love how she has weaved faith into a fantasy book. This one is a clean and incredibly wholesome book, that I proudly passed along to my fantasy, loving teenage daughter. Jemma, she's curious, strong and spunky. Malokai, he's her guardian, he's protective and completely relatable. The two of them are absolutely swoony together. Annah did a fantastic job with their story. I also loved all the animals within the story.... They can totally change sizes by the way!" Annah lives in Austin, TX with her husband Mason and their house leopard Bronco. She loves trying new hobbies (crocheting is her favorite right now), stargazing, appreciating the ocean, and making bookish friends.C.S. Lewis is a huge inspiration of hers: "The world does not need more Christian literature. What it needs is more Christians writing good literature."Thank you so much for following along Annah's authoring journey!
