On one occasion after a day of fishing at Roubaix Lake, Dad and I were on our way back home to Rapid City listening to FM radio. The song "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin came on. He said, "Listen to the words of this song son, and tell me what you think." After the song finished playing, I looked at him; his eyes were watering up. I told him I knew people who had parents like that... they were always too busy to make time for their family. Then and there in 1982, when I was 16 my dad and I made a pact. We would always make time for each other no matter how busy our lives were to become. Today, in 2025, at 58 years old and fortunate enough to have a father who is 85 and is still young at heart... well, we still go on an annual fishing trip together. We have been lifelong best friends. This book tells of fish being caught to be sure, BUT the funny stories that have unfolded over the years are worth the entertainment value to share. This book is a reel-y hilarious collection of fishing misadventures, adventures, and hooliganism, but also comes through with a touching moment here and there. It has it all! You may find that once you start reading it, you don't want to put it down... because just like a slippery fish, the book cover is slick, and you might not be able to grab hold of it again. Also, because its pretty good, lol!
